Easy and Simple DIY Christmas Cards At Home

Aside from the yearly tradition of family reunions and gift-giving, greeting our loved ones in a special way is something that we all look forward to during the Holiday season. It has been our practice to give away cards to our friends, family, and loved ones — especially those that live far away from us, as a symbol of remembrance on this special occasion.

You can usually get ready-made cards from your neighbourhood bookstore or arts and crafts shop. However, nothing speaks of love more than hand-made gifts, especially during the Holidays. Creating your own Christmas cards for your loved ones will surely make them feel that you took the time to remember them and exerted effort in making them smile. Moreover, if you’re already getting crafty with your decors and menu, it’s time to get your hands on some craft materials and dabble into customising your Christmas cards! Below, we’ll show you a few examples of easy DIY tutorials that you can put into practice this Holiday season.

Glitters Trees

This one is a relatively easy and simple trick! Get any dark-colored paper and fold them into a card. Grab a bottle of glue (preferably mod podge) and then your choice of glitter color. Paint your desired Christmas symbol on the paper using the mod podge — (in this case, a tree was painted), and let dry. Once it is sticky enough, sprinkle some glitter over it until it adheres. This will serve as your “paint”, and you may shake off the excess later on. Et voila! Click here for the full tutorial.

Thumbnail Reindeers

These cards made out of thumbnail reindeers are probably the cutest and most child-friendly craft you can do with your kids! Get a white cardboard, and fold it into your desired card size. Get some brown paint, and dilute it with water. Once it is ready, call everyone around the house!

Here’s the fun part: you can ask each family member to dip their thumb in the paint, and print it onto the paper. This will serve as the reindeer head, but also a representation of the person’s presence in creating your card. Afterwards, feel free to use a pen and doodle whatever additional design you may want.

Recycled Paper Tree

This Christmas card idea is probably the most cost-efficient, as you will spend less to nothing in creating this! We’re pretty sure that everyone has some cute scrap paper lying around the house that’s not really put into any use. Now’s the time to grab them and lay them on the table. Cut vertical strips of different lengths, and combine them all together on top of your card. Glue them on, add a glorious star on top, and surprise! You now have your own sets of mini Christmas trees.
